Lidex ointment is a strong corticosteroid and treats various skin conditions such as eczema, dermatitis, psoriasis, allergies, and rash. Lidex reduces swelling, itching, and redness in these conditions.
Lidex ointment usually is applied one to four times a day. Follow the directions on your prescription label carefully, and ask your doctor or pharmacist to explain any part you do not understand. Use Lidex ointment exactly as directed.
To use Lidex ointment, apply a small amount to cover the affected skin area with a thin film and rub it in gently. Be sure to wash your hands immediately afterward.
Before using Lidex ointment, tell your doctor or pharmacist your medical history, especially of: poor blood circulation and immune system problems, and if you are allergic to it, other corticosteroids, or any other allergies. This product may contain inactive ingredients, which can cause allergic reactions or other problems.
Rarely, using corticosteroid medications for a long time or over large areas of skin can make it more difficult for your body to respond to physical stress.
Before having surgery or emergency treatment, or if you get a serious illness/injury, tell your doctor or dentist that you are using this medication or have used this medication within the past few months.
Although improbable, if this medication is used for a prolonged period, it could temporarily slow down a child's growth. Visit the doctor frequently.
During pregnancy, this medication should be used only when needed. Consult your doctor before breastfeeding.

Does Lidex ointment work on children?
If you use Lidex ointment on a child's diaper area, do not use tight-fitting diapers or plastic pants. Such use may increase side effects.
How long should you use Lidex ointment?
Your skin condition should improve during the first two weeks of your treatment. Call your doctor if your symptoms do not improve during this time.
Is Lidex ointment suitable for the face?
Avoid use on the face, genital and rectal areas, and skin creases and armpits unless directed by your doctor.

Call your doctor if the treated area worsens or if burning, swelling, or oozing of pus develops.
