Zofran is to prevent nausea and vomiting caused by cancer drug treatment (chemotherapy) and radiation therapy. It is also used to prevent and treat nausea and vomiting after surgery.
Take Zofran as directed by your doctor. Please do not take more of it, do not take it more often, and do not take it for a longer time than your doctor prescribed.
Zofran comes with patient instructions. Read and follow these instructions carefully. Ask your doctor if you have any questions.
Before using Zofran, tell your doctor or pharmacist your medical history, especially of: irregular heartbeat, liver disease, or stomach/intestinal problems.
Talk to your pharmacist or doctor if you are allergic to it, other serotonin blockers, or if you have any other allergies. Zofran may contain inactive ingredients, which can cause allergic reactions or other problems.
Get emergency medical help if you have signs of an allergic reaction to Zofran: rash, hives; fever, chills, difficult breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.
Common Zofran side effects may include:
diarrhea or constipation;
headache;
drowsiness; or
tired feeling.

Can you drink alcohol while taking Zofran?
While there is no listed drug interaction between Zofran and alcohol, both can cause similar side effects and should be used together with caution.
Additionally, both alcohol and Zofran can cause sedation. Not operating heavy machinery or participating in activities requiring strict attention is recommended.
What are Zofran side effects?
Headache, lightheadedness, dizziness, drowsiness, tiredness, or constipation may occur. If these effects persist or worsen, notify your doctor promptly.
